Excursions & Sights
You can reach the down town area of Salzburg, one of the world’s most beautiful old cities of the world, in just a couple of minutes from our hotel by bus or local railway.
Our central location allows visiting most easily a number of famous and very attractive sights. The Salzkammergut, the Königssee lake, the ice caves in Eisriesenwelt, the salt mines in the Salzbergwerk Hallein, the Hohenwerfen fortress and Gut Aiderbichl are easily reachable from our hotel. Further most recommendable daytrips will take you to the Großglockner alps, the Krimmler waterfalls, and the reservoirs in Kaprun.

Estate Aiderbichl
Estate Aiderbichl is home to many animals that have been rescued from unfortunate circumstances. It is well known through visits by many famous dignitaries and world wide media attention. Estate Aiderbichl can be visited daily and offers guided tours and special attractions all year round.
In Search of “Silent Night”
One of the most famous sights in the area around Salzburg - the “Silent Night Chapel” in Oberndorf - is well worth a visit and will leave you with lasting memories. Other popular attractions include the Franz Xaver Gruber Museum in Arnsdorf, and the Maria Bühel Pilgrimage Church.
Basilica Maria Plain
The baroque pilgrimage basilica impresses for its rich décor, harbouring one of Austria’s most important treasuries. Mehrere Kapellen umgeben die Basilika. On clear days you will particularly enjoy a walk on the Kreuzweg over the Plainberg to the basilica for its beautiful panorama.
Koenigssee & St. Bartholomä
St. Bartholomä, the landmark of Königssee, lies in the neighbouring state of Bavaria, and is only reachable by boat. The world famous pilgrimage church dating from the 12th century rests most picturesquely on a peninsula. See if you can encounter the famous “echo” at Königssee!
Hohenwerfen Fortress
You will certainly enjoy visiting the 900-year-old Hohenwerfen Fortress, which towers high above the Salzach Valley, between the Tennen and Hagen mountain ranges, and offers variety of attractions including tours of the fortress with a weapons exhibit, a medieval shop, flight demonstrations at the Falconry Centre, and the first Austrian Falconry Museum.
Eisriesenwelt Werfen
The largest ice-caves on our planet. Discover these incredibly large ice halls that bare the mightiest ice figures in the world. Your efforts will be duly rewarded when visiting this unique labyrinth of caves. The guided tour takes about 1 hour.
Großglockner & High-Alpine Road
Dive into the fascinating natural and cultural landscape of the Hohe Tauern National Park. The famous High-Alpine Road ends where the superb National Park Hohe Tauern begins: at the highest mountain and largest glacier of Austria, the Großglockner (3,798m). Please, check opening dates of the road!
